The Last Word: Rabbit, Cocktails, and Binders Full of Women ...

Our week in review: snippets of food, drink and fun stuff that didn?t make it in to a full post but we thought good enough to share.? Happy Friday!

Best rabbit I?ve ever had: Rabbit Confit at Farmstead Table. I could have eaten this as the appetizer and as my dinner. Served atop a square of toast, the confit had a touch of Dijon-like mustard to balance out this slightly gamey meat. Their menu changes daily, but if you see it, order it. And in case you forgot how much we love it here, read this.

What Lin?s Drinking: Seelbach at Pigalle; bourbon, combier, bitters and sparkling wine. Simply lovely, great use of both bourbon and bubbles.

What Jon?s Drinking: Binder Full of Women at Citizen Pub (featured image, drink special for Tiki Tuesday). Made with all spirits closely related to women, this cocktail was as tasty as it was clever.

Speaking of Citizen, their new fall menu debuted on Tuesday and we decided to have dinner.

Chicken Cordon Bleu (house-made ham, gruyere, broccolini, mushroom and marsala reduction; $18): My mom made this all the time growing up, and I thoroughly enjoyed this grown up version. Thick, house made ham makes its presence known, while gruyere is just perfect, gently oozing out of each slice.? The chicken is well-seasoned and the reduction sauce just puts this dish over the top.

Seared Local Cod (braised lentils du puy, bacon & toasted coriander vinaigrette; $21): Sometimes there is nothing better than simple.? With fresh ingredients, it?s easy to let the fish stand along.? Perfectly seasoned and cooked, the cod sits atop a bed of lentils and bacon, adding that touch of fall comfort.

Cocktail class at ArtBar at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge. Head Bartender, Elizabeth Powell, took us through the evolution of cocktails. Pictured below is an Old Fashion Old Fashioned.

College Football: Lin is a Florida Gators Alum and fan. On Saturday, we ventured to the Coolidge Corner Clubhouse for some beer, wings and of course, football. They have a pretty good selection of draft beers, and plenty of tv?s to catch all of the games.

Happy Birthday Massachusetts Girls Pint Out! Last night at Stoddards Pub, MAGPO celebrated their 2nd Birthday in style! Cheers and Congrats!

Read of the Week: Gretchen Torrey does a wonderful job recapping her time at one of the best restaurants in the city and in the U.S. Click link to read: My Time at Menton

Highlight: Meeting Matteo Luxardo of the Luxardo family, listening to him talk about Italy, his family?s product while enjoying a drink with him. Special thanks to Origin Beverage and Silvertone for hosting a fantastic event supporting Breast Cancer awareness.
